Mysterious wood powder in my bedroom?

I’ve had my wooden bedroom for about a year now.. Recently – a few weeks back – I found this fine wood powder (beige colored) scattered behind my bed.. I hoovered it out hoping its only residue from the installation process that I didn’t notice earlier.
Today I found more of it in the same place.
And I occasionally find a little black bug dead on the floor here and there, it’s less than half an inch long..
I googled a bit now and found out about "powder post beetles" and "bark beetles".. Could this be it? Could it be an infestation? Will they damage my room?
Do I need professional help or would normal insecticides work? (I regularly spray some just to avoid having bugs in the house.)
I could really use some help.. It’s my first time to live alone and I’m clueless about this.
Thanks in advance!

I would closely inspect the bedroom set.Nowadays most of these are imported from the far east and occasionally they(or any other wood products from there) can bring along unwanted visitors-be it adult , egg or larvae.Termites are kind of ant-like in appearance and the fact you’re looking up beetles suggests maybe that’s exactly what it is-a beetle. There are several species of "borer" beetles in the world.Closely examine the undersides and hidden areas of the bed frame-if you find holes contact a professional about the best way to deal with it-simply plugging the holes might not work if there are eggs or larvae already in it.

I suggest you also ‘google’ – termites…..There are beetles like you mentioned that can take to your wood, but my guess is that you have termites. See to it soon or you may not have a sound house for much longer.

It’s possible that when you bought your new bedroom set, that the wood furnature could have already been infested with bugs or whatever. That happens sometimes. I would go back to the place you bought it from. Good luck.
